Galerija Velenje

The Velenje Gallery is situated in a modernist building designed by the architect Adi Miklavc in the very centre of the town. Thematically and professionally, the gallery focuses on the modern art production in the Savinja and Šaleš Regions. It mainly performs exhibition, research, documentation and pedagogic activities.

Its permanent collection includes painters and sculptors (Rihard Jakopič, Matija Jama, Matej Sternen, Maksim Gaspari, Hinko Smrekar, Fran Tratnik, Veno Pilon, Božidar Jakac, Miha Maleš, Mira Pregelj, Miha Pirnat, Marij Pre gelj, Gojmir Anton Kos, MaksimSedej, Stane Kregar, Gabrijel Stu pica, Janez Ber nik, Štefan Planinc, Andrej Jemec, Avgust Lavrenčič, Emerik Bernard, Franc Novinc etc.), as well as authors that are somehow related to the Šaleška dolina Valley: Ivan Napotnik, Majda Kurnik, Alojz Zavolovšek, Ciril Cesar, Jože Horvat - Jaki. The collection also includes the most promising authors of the younger generation of Slovenian painters.
