Festival of Archaeology

Every year organisations across the country take part in events showcasing the best of archaeology. Get involved to see archaeology in action and learn about Oxford's local heritage. All events are free (no booking required), but donations are welcome. Events include lectures on the discovery of Richard III's skeleton, alabaster tombs, and the Alfred Jewel historical re-enactments of 6th century meadhall culture from the Wulfheodenas Living History Society study room visits looking at royal relics and talks and tours tackling subjects such as the ancient rulers of Syria, royal bronze and jade in China and coats of arms in the Ashmolean's collections.
