Description: Woollen sampler embroidered with polychrome silks in cross-stitch with a small quantity of silver metal thread. The edges are bound with a dark red ribbon. The most part of the sampler is taken up with an inscription, complimented by some minor pictorial elements (trees, branches, baskets and cornucopias) all framed within a simple stylized floral border. The sampler has been worked to celebrate the Treaty of Amiens in 1802, with a verse full of patriotic fervour.
