Description: Earthenware printed onglaze ? in black and painted in green, red, purple, brown, and blue enamels. Cylindrical with oval loop handle. Decorated with three oval reserves entitled 'BIRTHPLACE OF JOSIAH WEDGWOOD 1730/CHURCHYARD WORKS BURSLEM 1649', 'ETRURIA, JUNE 13TH 1769/TRENT & MERSEY CANAL 1777', and 'BARLASTON 1939' surrounded by ivy, strawberry plants and fruiting vine; on the handle, five green palmettes separated by purple spots surrounded by six dots. On the base, printed in black: 'THIS MUG COMMEMORATES THE 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF./JOSIAH WEDGWOOD AND SONS 1959' in a circle around a small circle inscribed 'WEDGWOOD BICENTENARY/1759/1959', over 'Gilbert Wedgwood - Overhouse - Burslem b. 1588/Thomas Wedgwood - Churchyard - Burslem b. 1617/Thomas Wedgwood - Churchyard - Burslem b. 1660/Thomas Wedgwood - Churchyard - Burslem b. 1687/JOSIAH WEDGWOOD F.R.S./1730-1795/1759.
