Collections Trust and The Independent newspaper have partnered for a second year to run Hidden Treasures, a national initiative to celebrate collections in UK museums and archives. Details of participating museums are available online at www.HiddenTreasures.org.uk.
Over the course of six days, from 22 to 27 August, more than 70 museums across the UK will put on special events, tours and talks to give the public the chance to get to know their Hidden Treasures better. All events are free and a wide range is being offered to cater for all age groups.
If your organisation is interested in taking part in this year’s Hidden Treasures then it is not too late. E-mail naomid@wonderbird.eu for full details as soon as possible.

To support this year’s Hidden Treasures programme, a new cross-platform MuseumsUK mobile app has been launched by the Collections Trust in partnership with Semantika. It provides access to information about UK museums and galleries and their collections, and will enable visitors to find events and information in their local area in real time. Apps are available for free download here.
The Hidden Treasures campaign was officially launched at the OpenCulture 2013 conference reception on 2 July, and The Independent promoted it in its 13 July issue. This included a special feature in its Radar magazine. Further details are available on the Independent website.
