Explore how the role of Whitworth Park has changed over time. A local archaeology project, involving a wide range of local people, has drawn together a myriad of objects reflecting the important role that the park has played for the local community over the years revealing some interesting social and local history as well as some surprising secrets about this popular city park.
Finds chart the story of the park from its integral role as part of Whitworth Art Gallery, when it opened in 1890, to its redevelopment and excitement about the park and its future.
Come along to find out about the children's toys recovered by archaeologists and the way these shed light on the relationship between the behaviour expected of visitors to the park and what happened in reality.
