The Tomb: Ancient Egyptian Burial

Exhibition Gallery 2, Level 3 Discover how one tomb, excavated in 1857, provides a unique insight into changing burial rituals in ancient Egypt. This exhibition presents the story of one extraordinary tomb, built around 1290BC and reused for over 1000 years. Originally constructed shortly after the reign of Tutankhamun, the tomb was first built for the burial of the Chief of Police of Thebes and his wife. Through artefacts discovered in the tomb and nearby, uncover stories of the people buried there, and of burial rituals in ancient Egypt. Sponsored by Shepherd and Wedderburn
