Mood Light and Colour

Pamela lives in the Port of Menteith on the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The subject matter of much of Pamela's paintings is what she refers to as 'intimate landscapes' as her preference is to paint scenes/landscapes that are a part of her everyday life. Country lanes, trees, fields and hills, her garden and places that catch her attention when on holiday or out and about with family or friends. But her aim is never just to paint a 'pretty' landscape or scene - the light and the mood must be special or extraordinary. Pamela seeks those times when a familiar place is transformed by light into something unusually beautiful and colourful – winter sun turning tree tops gold and red - spring sunshine creating shadows full of colour and movement - the glare of summer sun on a path – a shining swathe of flowers – in other words, life-affirming moments that never last for long but, if you are fortunate enough to witness them, demand you stand and stare. Pamela uses her own photographs as reference or 'jumping off' points. Working with acrylic paints and inks, she uses colour, texture and movement to create images of the special and magical moments she has witnessed so that others can enjoy those moments too.
