Part of the British Ceramics Biennial 2015. With Dr Neil Brownsword, Prof. Anne Helen Mydland, Prof. Maris Boyd Gillette, Dr Alice Mah, Dr Tim Edensor Dr Robert Plot, the first keeper of the Ashmolean, wrote ‘The Natural History of Staffordshire’, an early account of the county’s pre industrial pottery manufacturing during 17th century, recently the factories and industry have been the subject of dramatic downturn. A panel of experts from the fields of art, design, anthropology, urban sociology, critical theory and cultural geography will explore the effects of de-industrialisation on communities and landscapes, and the urban renewal of such areas through art and culture-led strategies.
