Author Tony Redding’s new book on RAF Bomber Command includes accounts from aircrew operating during the final months of the European conflict. They survived flak hits; night fighter attacks; engine failures and collisions with clouds of incendiaries dropped from friendly aircraft above them. Some crews were shot down and became prisoners; some were murdered after safely bailing out over Germany.
