Taste of Art, Kate Buchanan

Kate Buchanan is a textile artist who works in mixed media. She lives in Harpenden with her husband and two children. As a child herself and then with her own children, she has spent many of her holidays in the beautiful countryside, combing the beaches and walking the coast. Her work has been greatly inspired by the natural sunlight, the rugged beaches, and at home her delightful hens. Kate’s main passion is for her small but beautifully formed textile pictures which demonstrate well her love of textiles and colour. These range from beaches and seascapes to rolling landscapes and her feathered friends. Kate not only makes and sells her own custom designs to a wide range of clients, but hosts workshops for other local creatives, to inspire and teach her techniques, exchange ideas and share life. Kate’s work often reflects a contemplative thought, using carefully chosen words to add meaning and depth to each piece.
