The 9th May 1915 was the blackest day of the Great War for Northamptonshire,as the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the county's regiment, the Steelbacks, were almost annihilated at Aubers Ridge. Local researcher, Geoff Grainger, from the Western Front Association, explains this tragedy with accounts from the survivors and lcoal reactions.
