Join Dr Bill Teatheredge, Curatorial Researcher at the Munnings Collection, as he discusses the 70 year career of Sir Alfred Munnings. Although his oeuvre included portraits, boats and pastoral scenes, he is best remembered for his equestrian paintings. This talk demonstrates how Munnings built up his paintings of horses from the most abstract sketch, sometimes drawn on the back of a race card, menu or envelope, to a painted study and then the finished piece. The talk will include details of his experiences with the Canadian Cavalry Brigade towards the end of World War One, his paintings of the troops and General Seely on his war horse, Warrior.
