East Meets West

A meeting of minds…Handel first met Telemann in 1701, and they remained friends for more than 50 years. Telemann was a colleague of Bach’s in Eisenach, and became godfather to his son, Carl Philipp Emanuel in 1714. Jill Kemp (recorders) and Claire Williams (harpsichord) present a programme which juxtaposes these three baroque giants with two of the most inspirational and influential 20th century Japanese composers.
