Enormous 1868 working Victorian Beam Engines which provided Wearside with wholesome water for 100 years and having welcomed visitors to the museum for over 40 years under the care of the volunteers at the museum. The 1908 hand fired Lancashire boilers continue to provide steam power for the engines and are maintained by the working blacksmith who will demonstrate his hot metal skills to the delight of all of our visitors. Enjoy a snack and cuppa in our award winning tea rooms and enjoy free access and parking thanks to the support of Northumbrian Water.
