Doors Open Day is a unique opportunity to see inside the 19th century dairy belonging to Blaise Castle House. This was a working dairy, but was also intended to impress guests and add to the impression of the Estate as a rural idyll. Built in 1804 and designed by fashionable architect John Nash, the Dairy and its lovely garden are only open to the public once a year. Visitors are invited to dress up as a dairymaid and have a go at making their own butter by hand. They can also taste the fresh butter churned by our butter makers, and take their own butter home for tea. No special skill required, just persistence!
