The feast is attended by a large number of guests, Belshazzar, King of Babylon, seated behind a table with a white table-cloth, used the sacred goblets looted from the Temple of Jerusalem to serve wine at a banquet. He raises his hand in the direction of the three hand-writing words on the wall that can be transliterated as 'mene, thekel, upharsin'. Only the prophet Daniel could interpret their meaning, which referred to the punishment of Belshazzar for blasphemy and to the fall of his kingdom. Size: 327.6 x 172.7 cm.
