Museum of Sarajevo 1878-1918

Muzej "Sarajevo 1878-1918"

"Sarajevo 1878-1919" Museum is located on the spot where Gavrilo Princip assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the heir of the Austro-Hungarian throne, which led to a declaration of war on Serbia and the beginning of World War I.

The museum opened in 2007 after extensive renovations. The well-designed, visitor-friendly museum details the years of Austro-Hungarian rule in Sarajevo and the effects it had on the city, from political and administrative changes to art and architecture, and everything in between.
