Body sherd of pottery vessel. Red exterior and black interior. Incised. From Armant. Found in 1997 in a box with 8 sherds labelled 'Armant 2 Pangrave sherd (Nubian Intrusion) 50/2945-50/2953'.This is a pan-grave sherd. The semi-nomadic Nubian people who entered Egypt in the Middle Kingdom and Second Intermediate Period buried their dead in shallow circular graves which archaeologists call 'pan-graves'. The pottery is hand made and incised.
