This pottery bowl has a painting of a boat on it. Small pots were often put in graves in the predynastic period. They may have contained scented oil. (D-ware, Naqada II-III 3800-3200 BC). The Naqada Period is named after the type site in Upper Egypt, just north of Thebes.
