Light kinetic illuminator. "Flambeau" is a solar-powered light sculpture. The colours produced in Sedgley's works are the result of years of research into colour theory. He acknowledges the influence of Futurist and Surrealist artists, but also looks to Goethe's colour theory and the work of Paul Klee. He first trained as an architect, but moved into the field of the visual arts in the early 1960s. He was a founder with Bridget Riley of SPACE (Space Provision Artistic Cultural and Educational), a scheme for providing studio space for young artists. He has an international reputation as one of the most inventive artists in the field of kinetic sculpture.
