Mummy label in shape of a tabula ansata. Two lines of writing. 2 holes, one in each side. 96mm long. From Akhmim(?). Records the death of Ammonari(on) aged 25 years. Such labels were put on the bodies of the dead who had died away from home by the transporters in order to facilitate identification. Published by Deiter Mueller in 'Journal Of Egyptian Archaeology' 59 (1973. 175-180). Purchased by Welcome from the MacGregor collection in 1924.
