Cartonnage mask of cat. Late Dynastic- Graeco Roman. Purchased by Wellcome in 1928. This would have been worn by a mummified cat. In the Late Dynastic to Greco Roman Period (747-395BC) cats were specially bred to be killed and then mummified in honour of the goddess Bastet.
