Museum of Military Aviation of Payerne - Clin d'Ailes

Musee de l'Aviation Militaire de Payerne

Clin d’Ailes – a living museum

The museum of military aviation
The museum presents an excellent collection of jet aircraft of the first and second generation. They draw attention by their elegance and their class as well as by the force which arises from their form. They are superb products of the aerodynamic evolution fighter jets underwent between the forties and the sixties, symbols of the transition from subsonic to supersonic flight.

But Clin d'Ailes is also a gathering place, a place to learn, an attractive place for a reunion, a forum, or a conference as well as a place to exchange ideas and emotions. Clin d'Ailes is not a museum in the ordinary sense but a living and inspiring environment.

Simulators
The Mirage III flight simulator – the SIMIR – at his time offered immense possibilities to train realistic radar interceptions and emergencies is still alive. The whole infrastructure of the SIMIR is in working condition and simulator sessions are available on special days or on reservation by prior agreement. The Flight Simulation Center (FSC) consists of two powerful computers and big screens to permit initiations to the world of virtual flight.

Espace Passion
Espace Passion is the one organization which combines the professional competence needed to assure maintenance and restoration of all the vintage aircraft destined for exposition or flight service. Since 2008, Espace Passion operates the only Mirage III doubleseater worldwide (ex J-2012), with a civil immatriculation (HB-RDF). The first passenger enjoyed its flight on 16 September 2008. Espace Passion is proud to be the only organization in the world offering passenger flights in a Mirage III fighter for its members.

Located close to the runway of the Payerne Air Base, the museum’s terrace offers its visitors an exceptional opportunity to take photographs of the Swiss Air Force F/A-18, F-5 Tiger, and Helicopters.
