Seto Talumuuseum

The Seto Farm Museum is located in Värska, in the centre of nothern Setomaa. Visitors can see here how people in this region, Setomaa, lived in the beginning of the 20th century. The largest Seto museum, the open-air Seto Farm Museum, is the result of hard work and support of many good people, whos hart is full of love toward Seto culture.

The Seto Farm Museum enables the visitors to learn about the farm architecture, old tools and rich collection of handicraft items dating from the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.
The exposition comprises a half-enclosed yard, a dwelling, storehouses for clothes, grain and food, a bam with a hay shed, a workshop, other sheds, a smoke sauna, a pottery, a smithy, a barn and kiln house and a tea house. The majority of the buildings are original and originate from Nothern Setumaa. The museum also organises temporary special exhibitions. Visitors can participate in various events, such as winter holidays, Seto lace days, Folk tales’ nights and celebrations of folk calendar holidays.

Next to the museum is located Café Tsäimaja (Tea House), what offers a selection of traditional food served in the handicraft ceramic dishes; the visitors can listen to Seto songs and music. There are 64 seats in the Tsäimaja; the terrace with 24 seats is open in summer. Dining for groups, organisation of events, using the meeting hall, etc., available by prior arrangement.
