SACHLICH NEU. Fotografien von August Sander, Albert Renger-Patzsch & Robert Häusser

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Mannheim exhibition "Neue Sachlichkeit" in 1925, the exhibition presents the two most important main representatives of New Objectivity in photography - Albert Renger-Patzsch (1897 - 1966) and August Sander (1876 - 1964) - together with the works of the Mannheim photographer Robert Häusser (1924 - 2013).
The focus will be on the interfaces between the main representatives of the "New Objectivity" and a "Magic Realism" as well as a "Subjective Photography" in Häusser's works. The exhibition focuses on the themes of "Portraits and Representations of People," "Industry and People at Work," and "Landscape Spaces and Plant Worlds. The works reflect the time of upheaval between belief in progress and skepticism after the two world wars, the caesura and the new beginning as well as the fragility of our being in its beauty and abysmalness.
"SACHLICH NEU" is a contribution to the anniversary year "Neue Sachlichkeit" and flanks a large special exhibition in the Kunsthalle Mannheim. At the same time, the Reiss-Engelhorn Museums are celebrating the 100th birthday of the renowned photographer Robert Häusser.
