The exhibition of Lithuanian book illustrations of the 20th century Warm Reminiscence
M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art has acquired a unique 20th century collection of original illustrations’ drawings and projects. This legacy reflects the birth and materialization of the artist's thought from the intermediate point to the ultimate goal – a printed book image. The retrospective exhibition Warm Reminiscence presents drawings, projects and sketches which are interesting and valuable as original works of art.
The exhibition will surely arouse reminiscences – starting with those who have just come up to their 20th and ending with seniors. While the youngest generation will have an opportunity to get familiar with the development of the art of illustrations and the most famous creators.
The exhibition includes the works from M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art, Lithuanian Art Museum, artist Birutė Žilytė-Steponavičienė’s personal collection, Kaunas County Public Library. The exhibition is complemented by video and sound installation with animated works and literary readings. Visitors are also invited to share in the book of responses what memories the exhibition had caused, which book (and why) is the one that had most clearly preserved in memory.
