Exhibition: Dürer after Dürer |
Location: Brukenthal Palace, Southern Wing, First Floor |
Text offered by the exhibition curators: The exhibition Dürer after Dürer includes more than 100 engravings of Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), printed by Charles-Amand Durand in the heliogravure technique after the original prints held at the National Library of France. They were published in a serial devoted to masters of European engraving, in 1877. There also exhibited prints from baron Brukenthal`s personal collection, prints after Albrecht Dürer's original plates, paintings from the Brukenthal Pinacoteca and a Sebastian Hann`s orfevrarie work inspired by Dürer`s famous xylography representing a rhino. Visitors can also admire books from the Brukenthal Library, suggestive for Dürer`s creation. |
The event is marking the reintegration as part of the permanent exhibition of the impressive polyptych altar from Proştea Mare / Târnava (Sibiu County), dated 1480-1510. This is the first time...
