The Reality of Illusion, an exhibition by Miloje Marković

This painting exhibition, which presents a segment of the opus of Miloje Marković, is dedicated to his devotion to tradition and his efforts to preserve it on canvas, as well as on utility items. Along with depicting various items, such as traditional garments, ceramics, carrying poles, pottery, lace, rugs, etc. in his paintings, he often paints on original folk pieces, such as bread paddles, chairs, doors... He sometimes uses oxen yokes or some other original items, painted and enlivened by his brush, as frames for his paintings. Markovic is often referred to as a guardian of time.

His illusion of stopped time is particularly interesting. Miloje Marković has also painted beautiful portraits of people dedicated to religion, and has decorated, in the fresco technique, stones brought from holy places. His works have been presented on numerous exhibitions.

The exhibition The Reality of Illusion is dedicated to the experience gained while looking at his works. However, having in mind that the exhibition is set up at the Ethnographic Museum and the Museum’s areas of interest, ethnic motifs are selected for presentation.
