Aware (pronounced: a-wah-ray) - a Japanese word meaning 'a sensitivity to things'. The word comes from the expression 'Mono no aware' (mo-no no a-wa-ray) which can be translated as 'an empathy towards things' or 'a sensitivity to ephemera'. In this exhibition, Ella Carty and Hideki Arichi respond to this theme using painting and printmaking, examining this very Japanese idea.
