2015 marks 40 years since the opening of the National Railway Museum in York (25 September 2015). We’ll be marking this very special milestone with a fantastic programme of special events and exhibitions. The year will start with the re-display of the Battle of Britain class locomotive, which was used to pull Winston Churchill’s funeral train 50 years ago. The locomotive has been cosmetically restored specially for the anniversary and will be reunited with the carriage that contained his coffin.
