Burton Constable at War

To commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of The Great War, Burton Constable Hall is holding an exhibition exploring its links to World Wars One and Two. Created by a team of dedicated volunteers, the exhibition explores the parts the Chichester-Constable family, the Burton Constable Estate, the Holderness area and people played in both wars. The display also includes a selection of artefacts loaned from Hull Museums and an area where visitors can contribute their own wartime memories or simply remember a loved one. Personal memories and reminiscences from local people have informed the content through the collection of oral histories and photographs. These have been used to make a series of booklets, full of vivid stories of Holderness during World War Two to complement the main display
