Coffee & Conversation

Student Action for Refugees (STAR) was set up by students at Nottingham University in 1994. Today they are a national charity of 12,000 students welcoming refugees to the UK. We do this by volunteering at local refugee projects, campaigning to improve the lives of refugees, educating people about refugees and asylum and fundraising to welcome refugees. The Library welcomes STAR’s volunteer project coordinator Emily Crowley to speak about STAR’s history and their current campaigns. There will be an opportunity for open discussion at the end of the talk. Refreshments will be served before and after the talk. This event is being held as part of Parliament Week.
