To mark the contribution of women during WW1, there will be screenings of selected short films from the Imperial War Museums collection, showcasing the remarkable stories of women working on the home front and on the front-lines. 10.45 am Film screening 2: Deeds not Words: The Suffragette Surgeons of WWI Alison Ramsey-Digital Drama (13 min) WINNER: Best Use of IWM Archive Material
As part of the broader campaign for women’s right to vote, suffragettes Flora Murray and Louisa Garrett Anderson founded the Endell Street Hospital, run entirely by women. Skilfully using rarely seen photographs, letters and archival film, it tells the remarkable story of the women who tirelessly worked at the hospital.
