Roman Shields

Festival of Archaeology Fringe 2018 Make and decorate your own Roman Shield, inspired by the Roman army, to take home. This fun morning drop-in will provide you with the tools to create your own Roman shield. Shields were often curved to protect the soldier’s body and brightly decorated with special designs to show power. Designs included eagles, lightning bolts and laurel wreaths. Create your own to take home. Suitable for age 5 and above. Cost: £2.50 per child, £1.50 members
