International Museum Day

20 May 2017 Vinnytsia Regional Local Lore Museum invites you to celebrate International Museum Day and take part in a European event "NIGHT OF MUSEUMS"!

The theme chosen for this year is "MUSEUMS AND CONTESTED HISTORIES: SAYING THE UNSPEAKABLE IN MUSEUMS". In the context of the events of recent years, this issue is very important for Ukrainian museums as centers of research and preservation of national historical and cultural heritage.

Events of the past and present are shown in Vinnytsia Regional Local Lore Museum, using the basic principles as objectivity and impartiality. It means the museum is actively involved in social processes, creating space for discussion, inscribing true page in the history of Vinnytsia region.

A number of this year's events, organized by International Museum Day are the reflection of the past events in the present, popularization of Ukrainian heroic spirit at all times and transparent coverage of conflicting realities. The language of the museum exhibits we speak to the visitor is the true voice of history.

The continuing strength of courage, honor, patriotism, devotion and self-sacrifice by various cultures of the world, as well as certification of Ukrainian Cossacks, a special place in history and its relevance to today's heroic tradition are reflected in the Cossack and samurai weapons exhibition from the private collection Feldman Family Museum "THE WAY OF THE WARRIOR. ONE FOR BOTH".

The spectacular exhibition "THE PRECIOUS PAGES OF PODILIA HISTORY" – is a unique opportunity to see precious jewelry, toreutics items, ceremonial weapons and treasures from the Vinnytsia Regional Local Lore Museum collection. The materials of the exhibition belong to different periods of the history of our country, from Tripoli to modern times.

A true story about the events of Maidan and in Antiterrorist operation on the East of Ukraine tells exhibition "HEROES OF GLORY".

Interactive Tour "FROM CUCUTEN TO TRIPOLI", exhibition "VINNYTSIA MASSACRE", dedicated to repression in Podilia region in the first half of the twentieth century, quiz "MUSEUM TERRA INCOGNITA" – these and other activities are a unique opportunity for visitors to discover unknown facts of local history.
