Waterloo Messenger: The life of Henry Percy

Using archives in England and France, Colonel Sir William Mahon has reconstructed in a vivid new biography the life of Henry Percy, the officer who delivered to London the news of Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo. William will discuss Percy’s vivid wartime experiences, his enduring friendships and his liaison with the French woman who bore him a son during his time as a prisoner of war. There will be a drinks reception and book signing after the talk. Colonel Sir William Mahon served in the Irish Guards and around the world. Having visited Waterloo many times, his boyhood interest in the Peninsular and Waterloo campaigns was rejuvenated by his attaché service in Spain.
