This nine-day long celebration of engineering past, present and future offers visitors a fun and interactive experience where you can explore your engineering interests in a series of specially designed challenges and zones:
• ‘Learning zones’ throughout the museum’s two huge halls will allow families to take part in a series of interactive and educational activities where children of all ages can experience first-hand some of the real-life challenges that engineers face in the rail industry.
• The week will open with exciting ‘live’ engineering demonstrations and the chance for youngsters to take part in a group challenge being delivered in association with engineering group Atkins.
• There will also be the opportunity to meet with engineers working on Britain’s biggest rail projects, such as Crossrail and HS2, and to discover more about a future career in engineering.
‘Future Engineers’ is sponsored by Angel Trains, Porterbrook and Eversholt and is about celebrating the importance of rail engineering in Britain.
The National Railway Museum in York invites families and individuals everywhere to to discover their own ‘hidden engineer’ and how they can shape the railways of tomorrow.
