1066: Putting the Norman Conquest into Perspective

To mark the 950th anniversary of the Norman Conquest, the Royal Armouries will be holding a special lecture at the Tower of London. Don’t miss a rare opportunity to visit the atmospheric fortress-palace, begun by William the Conqueror, after it has closed to the general public. Visit the Tower of London after hours on Friday 14 October – the date of the battle of Hastings – for a fascinating insight into the Norman Conquest. The lecture 1066: Putting the Norman Conquest into Perspective by Professor David Bates, author of a forthcoming biography of William the Conqueror, will reflect on Britain’s long-term multiculturalism and its relationship to Europe.
