Typography for beginners with Prof Phil Baines

A day of practical, old-school exercises to illuminate the three key aspects of typography: 1.The forms of letters themselves, and what distinguishes the main kinds of typefaces from each other 2.The associative (and illustrative) power of letters to give a ‘voice’ to a piece of text 3.The basic mechanics of using type as text: space between letters, words, and lines the balance of type size to line length and leading the articulation of text by paragraphs, headings.
