Threads: Forming the fabric of Newton Abbot. The new exhibition opens its doors to the public on the 23rd March 2016. The artefacts displayed draw together the threads of Newton Abbot's past. From Roman lamps to Madge Mellor tea pots, a Victorian outfit worn at Buckingham Palace, to Mr Vicary's mantle clock, each object has its own story to tell. The newly adapted area creates an uncluttered, bright space within the museum galleries. Other attractions include:- The working signal box in the GWR room, The replica of 18th century John Lethbridge's 'diving-engine' draws visits from sub-aqua groups from around the world. Tthe magnificent carvings within George Templer's overmantle/fireplace, dating from the 16th century. The WWI exhibition stories that illustrates the impact of the War on Newton Abbot. For a relatively small community museum there is a lot to see!
