Members' Evening: Chris Packham

Join Chris Packham, one of the nation's favourite naturalists, and learn what sparked his fascination with wildlife. In his memoir, Fingers in the Sparkle Jar, Chris tells of his unconventional solitary childhood, where he found companionship not among his classmates, but with the live specimens he collected for closer examination. You'll find out about ladybirds in matchstick boxes, tadpoles on spoons and the all-consuming bond he made with a young kestrel. The book weaves back and forth from Chris’s childhood in the 1960s and 1970s, alongside recent recollections from adulthood. Rosamund Kidman-Cox, an editor and writer specialising in wildlife and environmental issues, will host the evening, dissecting and discussing Chris' book. It will then be over to the audience, who can ask Chris questions about his adventures. The exclusive event will close with a book signing. The evening includes: -a complimentary drink -a hosted discussion with Chris Packham from 19.30-20.30 -the chance to purchase a copy of the book Fingers in the Sparkle Jar with a 20% discount -the opportunity to meet Chris as he signs copies of his book
