This lively and engaging exhibition is an ideal way for families and young children to learn about the astounding work of RNLI volunteers during the First World War, and of other daring rescues undertaken at sea. Communities have come together to create interactive displays and engaging artwork, funded by Arts Council England.
The exhibition is supplemented by objects from the Museum's collections including the Carnegie Medal for heroic endeavour, posthumously awarded in 1915, to James Geddes of the lifeboat "Alexander Tulloch" who died trying to save the crew of Hull trawler "Tom Tit" that had run aground off Peterhead in the previous December. It also includes material borrowed from the St Andrews Preservation Trust Museum and Anstruther Lifeboat Station relating to more local rescues.
