Heritage Open Days: Guildford Museum and Surrey Archaeological Library

Housed in a number of historic buildings linked together. The earliest is a 17th century Grade II* timber framed listed building, with a core dating from 1554, which was built into the medieval gatehouse of Guildford Palace and against the stone arch of the castle gateway. * Exhibition: Alice in Wonderland and Lewis Carroll. Also step into the world of prehistoric man, the Romans and Saxons, monks and friars, and the Victorians. * Exhibition: A display of archaeology not usually on show... it's not what you might expect. Guildford Museum's archaeology collection dates back to 1854, when the Surrey Archaeological Society was founded and began collecting objects. * Visit our exhibition What's in Store to find out how weird and wonderful things have found a home in our collections, and how we are working behind the scenes to care for and share these special objects
