Heritage Open Days: Bolton Steam Museum

Our volunteers have rescued and restored 25 old stationary steam engines, some of which once drove the cotton mills of Northern England. We have a wide range of many different types of steam engine. Some are now unique the only engine of this type which survives anywhere in the world! Our oldest engine is now over 170 years old. Most will be running in steam during these 2 days. We have recently rescued another very old and unusual engine from the scrap-man. After lying in a field in Yorkshire for 30 years, our volunteers have now restored it to working order. Come and see how we are getting on!
