The latest brings together two of the UK’s leading figures in contemporary art - Sonia Boyce and Serena Korda - who collaborated on a sculptural piece installed within the permanent displays this summer. The figure called Oscar is installed with the George V tiger display
Sonia Boyce has exhibited extensively in Berlin, Moscow, Venice and other European cities. A former director of the African & Asian Visual Artists Archive, Sonia was awarded fellowships by the National Endowment for Science, Technology & the Arts and the Arts & Humanities Research Council. She is a professor at Middlesex University and the University of the Arts, London. In 2007 the Queen awarded Sonia an MBE for services to art.
Serena Korda has exhibited at Modern Art Oxford, Camden Arts Centre and the Museum of Jurassic Technology, Los Angeles. Through large-scale ensemble performances, film and sculpture, she examines the secret life of objects and our latent desire to find pleasure in fear.
The list of artists was drawn up by RAMM’s Contemporary Arts Panel in consultation with Arts Council England and the Arts Council Collection at Southbank Centre. Artists Reflections is funded from by Arts Council England’s Major Partner Museum programme.
