Last Night in Brukenthal Palace

On May 16, on the occasion of the European programme The Long Night of the Museums, Brukenthal National Museum is opening  the Brukenthal Palace for visitors’ free access, between 3:00 pm and 11:00 pm.

This year’s programme is entitled Last Night in Brukenthal Palace for emphasizing and alternative – if there will be no restoration works in the future, the Long Night of the Museum in Brukenthal Palace will not be held again; on the other hand, there is still hope that the ignorance and the lack of audience meeting the building’s situation at the present will be surpassed and Palace will emerge from night and darkness into the light.

The event is part of the campaign for Brukenthal Palace restoration. The visitors will be welcomed by Samuel and Sophia von Brukenthal (the costumes donated by fashion designer Alexandru Nicolae) and will have access for the first time to the oriental room of the north wing, closed for the public for more than 60 years.

There will be also opened to the public two temporary exhibitions: a poster one (Cartography Cabinet) and a photo one (first inner courtyard) both related to the campaign’s thematic.
