“Smiling Machines”
Didi Vardi, Israel’s veteran Maker, celebrates 30 years of creativity at the BloomfieldScienceMuseum with a new exhibition. The retrospective features dozens of active and entertaining exhibits. Some expose the mechanism that drives them. Some are made of very simple and easily available, recycled materials. Some are funny. Some make us curious. And some encourage us to explore and create.
The exhibit includes a machine that endlessly spins Chinese dishes, a giant yo-yo, a ball machine, a musical bicycle, a walking bicycle, a giant bubble machine, and lots more.
We have a wide range of activities for the whole family:

The Mistorin Theater Group performs Human Machine and reveals the secrets of balance. Three clowns attempt to build a car out of various materials, inspired by Didi Vardi’s machines. Each one is certain that he knows the right way to go about it. While running, jumping, pulling and tugging, they discover to their amazement that they have actually managed to create a balanced ‘human machine.’ Curiosity drives them to try more acrobatic ways to connect the pieces.
