Day 1 of a weekend of events in Chelmsford marking the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. Day 2 takes place at Hylands House.
To mark the centenary of the raising of Kitchener’s Army, the force of volunteers who queued to join the Army in 1914, the 10th Essex Regiment demonstrate life for the British “Tommy” supported by a Museum display about these new units, the 9th, 10th, 11th and 13th (Service) Battalions of the Essex Regiment.
