Ancient Egypt: From Birth to Coronation

Egyptologist Garry Shaw explores Egyptian kingship looking at the ideal Pharaoh, as shown on temple walls and in court texts. Discover how this representation contrasts with the reality of the king's early life growing up as a prince, through to his time on the throne. The study day will look at royal education, family life, health, death, and the king's role as war leader.
